Julio Gama
Head of Corporate Communications

Julio Gama is the founder and Managing Director of Americas Communications. Before opening his own firm, Julio held the position of Director of Corporate Practice with Newlink Group, where he was responsible for developing, implementing and supervising strategic communication plans consistent with the long-term interests of key clients.

This included developing risk/crisis management communication plans; internal communication strategies and building/maintaining relationships with top level journalists in Brazil, Latin America and the U.S. Clients under his supervision included Chevron, McDonald’s, Citibank, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), PR Newswire, Latin America Banks Federation (Felaban), Florida International Bankers Association (Fiba), Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), LinkedIn and HBO, among others.

Before joining Newlink, Julio worked in Santiago, Chile and Miami as Executive Editor for AmericaEconomía, the most prestigious Latin American business publication in the region, formerly owned by Dow Jones. Previously, he worked for nine years as AssistantEditor and reporter at O Estado de S. Paulo, one of the major newspapers in Brazil.

Julio holds a bachelor’s in communications with a major in journalism from Faculdade da Cidade in Brazil and a MBA in International Business from Florida International University in Miami. Further educational training includes Strategic Communication Planning at Georgetown University, Washington, DC.

Julio is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
